Mathly Live is operated from Brazil, so this policy is built around Brazil's General Data Protection Law (Lei nº 13.709/2018 — LGPD), the Brazilian Child and Adolescent Statute (Lei nº 8.069/1990 — ECA), and the Brazilian Internet Civil Rights Framework (Lei nº 12.965/2014). Those laws set a protection standard at least as strict as comparable rules elsewhere (such as COPPA in the United States or the UK/EU GDPR) — students, parents, and teachers anywhere are covered by the same commitments described below.
1. Who controls the data
Mathly Live is the controller of the personal data processed on the platform. Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy can be sent through the contact page, which also serves as the point of contact for data-protection matters.
2. What data we collect
At sign-up: name, email, password (stored encrypted, never in plain text), country, state, city, and school. During use: scores, correct answers, response time, and daily play streaks, used to build your history and the rankings.
3. Why we use this data, and our legal basis
We use your data to authenticate your access, show your progress, build the rankings, and improve the platform — processing that's necessary to deliver the service you requested. Publicly showing your name on the rankings relies on your specific consent, collected at sign-up, which can be withdrawn at any time. We don't use your data for any other purpose.
4. Sharing
We don't sell or share your data with third parties for commercial or advertising purposes. Your registered name may appear publicly on the platform's rankings, but only when you (or your legal guardian, if you're a minor) have authorized it, as described in section 3.
5. Children and teenagers
Mathly Live is built for students, including children and teenagers. Registration by a minor must happen with a parent or legal guardian's knowledge, and authorizing the display of a minor's name on the public ranking requires that same awareness. Parents and guardians can, at any time, request to view, correct, anonymize, or delete a minor's data, or withdraw the ranking-name authorization, through the contact channel.
6. Showing your name on the public ranking
Appearing on the rankings by name is opt-in: it only happens because you (or your legal guardian) expressly authorized it at sign-up, in an item kept separate and distinct from the rest of the terms — the higher bar required for children's data. To withdraw that authorization and have your name removed from public rankings, just send a request through the contact page — your progress data keeps existing normally, it simply stops being shown publicly with your name attached.
7. Cookies and advertising
We use one strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in (your login session), configured as HttpOnly and SameSite. We also load Google AdSense's script, which may set its own cookies to serve and measure ads — those are governed by Google's technology partner policy, not by us directly. Today the platform is in a stage where the AdSense script is loaded but no ad units are actually displayed anywhere; if and when ads go live, we commit to keeping them off login, sign-up, chat, and gameplay screens. We don't otherwise use tracking cookies or share browsing data with third parties.
8. Data security
Your password is stored with cryptographic hashing (never in plain text), the connection to the site is protected by HTTPS, and we use security headers to reduce common web-application risks.
9. Your rights
You can, at any time, request through the contact page: confirmation that we process your data; access to your data; correction of incomplete or outdated data; anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary data; data portability; information about any sharing; and withdrawal of consent — including consent for showing your name on the ranking, covered in section 6.
10. Changes
This policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes to the platform or the law. Continued use of Mathly Live after an update means you're aware of the new version.
